Our special guest is Kristine Rivers, Texas Master Naturalist, who will talk about turning your yard into a safe haven for birds and other wildlife.
As a reminder to all, our 2022-2023 club membership dues, $30.00, are payable by March 31. Your dues are very important to the operation of the club, and help support our scholarship program, our speaker program, and our activities in our community. Our annual budget is being prepared by Wendy Kane, Treasurer, so please get your dues in! You can pay at the meeting this month, or mail your check, payable to League City Garden Club, to our membership chairperson:
Corinne Hartwell 2516 Siskin Trail League City, Texas 77573Please remember to support the horticulture table at the meeting by bringing a plant or cuttings to share, swap, or purchase. Chairperson Judith Taub requests that we consider donating gently used garden pots and vases to the horticulture table. Seed packs and seeds that you've harvested (include planting and care instructions, please) are also welcome to share, as are gardening books, magazines and catalogs.
We're looking for a big project idea to engage our members and promote the work of our club for the 2022-23 year. A suggestion box will be available at the meeting so that everyone has an opportunity to contribute an idea or two. Members will vote and select one idea to be developed and executed this year.
On April 13, our club will have a "field trip" to the Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Garden. Entry to the arboretum is free. The bus transportation will be approximately $11.00 per person. We plan to eat lunch in the Humble area near the arboretum. Each member will purchase their own lunch. Sue Bain is coordinating the trip and she'll need to have an accurate headcount to order one or more buses for our transportation. Please contact Sue at sue.bain@gmail.com to let her know if you'll attend. There will also be a sign up sheet at our March meeting.
See you all at the March 9 meeting!
