The presentation this month is Microgreens, with guest speaker Chef Mary Bass. Microgreens are highly nutritious vegetable greens harvested just after their cotyledon leaves have developed. Chef Bass will share information on how to incorporate them into everyday cooking.
Please remember to support the horticulture table at the meeting by bringing a plant or cuttings to share or swap, or to donate to the LCGC to sell. Chairperson Judith Taub is also requesting that we bring gently used garden pots and vases. Seed packs and seeds that you've harvested (include planting and care instructions, please) are also welcome to share at the horticulture table, as are gardening books, magazines and catalogs. Also, your horticulture questions about plant cultivation, pest management, etc. are encouraged. Our members have a wealth of knowledge to share with us!
Immediately following this meeting, we'll have our first publicity photograph of 2022 at the Walter Hall Park on Hwy 3 in League City! This photo will be used to promote the club and its activities. Club members can park inside Walter Hall Park, and the photograph will be taken at the large sign at the entry. The address is 807 N. Hwy 3. Tiffany Valle is our Publicity chairperson. Let's all help her get 2022 off to a great start!
We're looking for a big project idea to engage our members and promote the work of our club for the 2022-23 year. A suggestion box will be available at the meeting so that everyone has an opportunity to contribute an idea or two. Members will vote and select one idea to be developed and executed this year.
As a reminder to all, our 2022-2023 club membership dues, $30.00, are payable by March 31. You can pay at our February or March meetings, or mail your check, payable to League City Garden Club, to our membership chairperson:
